Did you know that February is National Heart Month with a focus on your health, performance and looking after yourself, especially in this pandemic?

Your Heart and Water

After Valentine’s Day last weekend saying ‘I love you’ with flowers or even chocolates is all well and good but how about a real boost that ensures your most vital organ remains as healthy as possible? Water not only refreshes the parts of our bodies that other liquids fail to reach, but it is also a real lifesaver. According to research, those who drink at least 5 glasses of water everyday lower the risk of heart disease. Add this to the fact that you are also far less likely to succumb to cancer and it starts to become a positive life choice. By staying hydrated – i.e. drinking more water than you are losing – you are helping your heart do its job. A hydrated heart is able to pump blood more easily, allowing the muscles in your body to work even better. So, drinking more water is good for you, but here are some pointers on how to stay hydrated, to feel well and be healthy.
  • Instant Boiling Water Tap – Installing a boiling tap into your home or workplace gives you quick, easy access to boiling and chilled water at the touch of a button. This means no more waiting for the kettle to boil which can sometimes put us off making our favourite beverage. Ultimate in convenience and water as you want it. Some brands also serve sparkling water too.
  • Office Water Cooler – Make sure your team have good access to chilled and filtered drinking water in a safe and socially distanced way, to top up their hydration levels far more frequently, resulting in a happier and healthier workplace.
The benefits of drinking water have never been so important for heart health and wellbeing. Why not download an app to remind you and monitor your water intake, and reach the recommended fluid intake! Infuse your filtered water with fresh fruit and fresh herbs, to give it a delicious, natural flavour. The possible combinations are endless, but some of our favourites include lemon + fresh ginger, strawberry, lemon & basil, and watermelon + mint. Many reusable water bottles have a removable fruit infuser.  Simply put your chosen fruit and fresh herbs into the capsule in the bottle, and let it infuse away! A hint of flavour. Many people say that the only way they can drink water is in the form of squash. The problem with squash is that it’s either packed with sugar or artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, in the sugar-free versions. Try water flavour enhancers that are free of both sugar and artificial sweeteners, and instead contain stevia – a natural plant-derived sweetener. Have a cuppa. Herbal and fruit teas are a particularly good alternative to drinking water when it’s cold outside! Teapigs and Tetleys and other leading tea brands all offer super-power teas to help refresh, boost and detox you. Consider the environment and choose a brand where the teabags are plastic-free, such as Teapigs, PG Tips, Pukka, Duchy Organics or go loose-leaf to be just as sustainable.

Instant hot & cold water taps

It’s not just cold water that can help quench your thirst! If your office or workplace invests in a multi-function instant hot water KettleTap, you can get water as you want it. Boiling water instantly at the touch of the button and chilled and filtered. Instant hot taps will help speed up the tea round and improve overall productivity and wellbeing in the workplace.

Refill to cut plastic waste

7.7 billion single-use plastic drinks bottles are bought in the UK every year and contribute to the plastic pollution issue that our planet faces. A staggering 57% are not recycled and end up in landfill, the environment, our wildlife and the beaches and oceans. So, help turn off the plastic tap and refill a reusable bottle, such as Chilly’s and SHO, that keep hot drinks hot for 12 hours and cold water chilled for 24! If you are looking for ways to improve your health, drink more pure, chilled and filtered water each day.
